FALLS CREEK - Year after year, many dedicated hunters go after one of the largest game animals in the state, the black bear.
Since opening day on Saturday, a new bear check station has been in operation at the fire department in Falls Creek.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 101 bears has been checked in.
Bears killed in Clarion, Jefferson, Clearfield, Elk and Armstrong counties are brought to Falls Creek.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission said as of Tuesday, 2,308 bears were harvested statewide.

NEW YORK CITY (TND) — Rev. Al Sharpton picketed outside billionaire Bill Ackman's office Thursday to protest his push for ex-Harvard President Claudine Gay's resignation.
The civil rights leader marched with the National Action Network outside the New York City office. The protestors tried to show New Yorkers, corporate America and Ackman's investors "who he is" by carrying signs and shouting, "No justice, no peace!"

Clearfield County new cannabis dispensary gives first looks before it opens for business
DUBOIS – A medical marijuana dispensary will soon be opening in Clearfield County.
“We like to think of ourselves as the premier cannabis dispensary company in Pennsylvania,” PA operations manager Will Aggains said.
The Chicago-based company Herbology is now reaching out to folks in Clearfield.
“There no cannabis dispensary nearby, and so was filling a need for people that live in Dubois,” Aggains said.
Employees help guide those in need on a journey to have cannabis help them.

DelGrosso's Park will kick off it's 77th season this weekend with two hours of free rides and All-Day Fun Pass deals, park officials said.
According to a press release, the park opens Saturday with two hours of free rides from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Both Saturday and Sunday will also feature an All-Day Fun Pass special where guests can purchase a Fun Pass for the day for $25 and get a second one for $10.

Man accused of sexually assaulting woman at State College apartment, filming it
State College, PA (WJAC) — Authorities say a Washington County man has been charged in State College, accused of sexually assaulting a woman over two years ago.
Police say 23-year-old Gabriel Uribe, of Charleroi, allegedly assaulted the woman at her South Allen Street apartment in October of 2021.
Police say that Uribe also recorded the alleged assault on a cellphone.
According to online court records, Uribe has been charged with multiple offenses, including felonies for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault.

2 facing drug charges after deadly Elk County overdose, police say
ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Two people are facing multiple drug charges after officers responded to a fatal overdose in Elk County Wednesday, according to police.
According to a criminal complaint, Crystal Hause, 37, arranged a meeting through Facebook messages to meet Dustin Smith, 39, in order to purchase drugs for the victim.
Police say that, once Hause obtained the drugs, she delivered them to the victim who then smoked heroin and fentanyl.
