Half a century ago, in June of 1972, Hurricane Agnes caused significant and widespread damage throughout the Mid-Atlantic, including here in our area. 50 years ago this week, Hurricane Agnes moved onshore over the Florida panhandle before slowing down over Pennsylvania bringing record setting rainfall totals and destructive flooding. On the afternoon of June 19, 1972, Hurricane Agnes made landfall along the Florida Panhandle. ALUM BANK, Pa. (WJAC) — Two people were taken to a hospital after a semitrailer overturned Saturday morning. According to Bedford County dispatchers, the crash happened at the Peggy Westover Curve on Route 56. Dispatchers said no other vehicles were involved in the crash and state police in Bedford County were investigating. Jury finds mother, boyfriend guilty of leaving disabled daughter to die in hot car

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — A South Carolina mother and her boyfriend were found guilty on Friday of leaving her disabled daughter to die in a hot car. In closing statements for the state, Solicitor Duffie Stone said the two tortured Rita Pangalangan's 13-year-old daughter Cristina by leaving her to die in Pangalangan's car for five hours and 41 minutes. Man convicted of killing his girlfriend escapes from Pennsylvania prison

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A man convicted this month of fatally stabbing his girlfriend in front of her children escaped Thursday from a suburban Philadelphia prison, authorities said. Danelo Cavalcante, 34, eluded guards at the Chester County Prison in West Chester before 9 a.m., and was seen nearly an hour later walking on a road near the prison, they said.
