JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Over 700 people in Jefferson County will be without power Tuesday morning for about an hour, according to a Penelec spokesperson. Penelec says the power outage, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end at 10 a.m., will primarily affect Sykesville, some customers in Luthersburg and those outside of DuBois, but not the city of DuBois. According to Penelec, crews will be working on a substation in Sykesville and changing fuses to prevent further outages. [Read More]

Authorities searching for Saltsburg area man who reportedly failed to show up to work

Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Indiana County are searching for a Saltsburg area man who was reported missing on Wednesday. Police say 45-year-old Bryan John Bialas, of Conemaugh Township, Indiana County, reportedly failed to show up for work and was reported missing by his family and co-workers. Troopers say Bialas is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet, 1 inches tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and long brown hair. [Read More]

Clearfield hunter bags 704-pound black bear

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — Pennsylvania's statewide bear season came to a close Wednesday. As of Wednesday afternoon, Mickey Moore, of Clearfield, harvested the third largest bear in the state. Moore killed the 704-pound male Nov. 17 in Goshen Township, Clearfield County. Moore said he and a group of friends were out driving for bear and following tracks. Meta oversight board weighing use of 'from the river to the sea,' seeking community input

WASHINGTON (TND) — An oversight board for social media giant Meta is seeking user input on whether posts with the phrase "from the river to the sea" should be permitted on Facebook, the company told The National Desk (TND) Wednesday. The phrase is considered antisemitic by the Anti-Defamation League and was included in the 1988 original governing charter of Hamas, the terrorist group which invaded Israel on Oct. 7. New pizza shop opens in Geistown

GEISTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — There is a new pizza shop opening in Cambria County. JoJo's pizza is opening a new location on Bedford Street in Geistown. The new shop was formerly Ann's Pizza. Ann's closed in October 2018. Employees at the new location said they are trying to combine JoJo's traditions and Ann's traditions -- starting with square cut pizza. PFBC warns of potential price increase for fishing licenses

Johnstown, PA — The price of fishing licenses could increase in the next year. Woman convicted of using self-checkout to steal $60,000 in goods from Target

SAN FRANCISCO (TND) — A California woman has been convicted of stealing over $60,000 in merchandise from the same Target store dozens of times. Aziza Graves, 43, from San Francisco allegedly entered the Target at the Stonestown Galleria on multiple occasions between Oct. 3, 2020, and Nov. 16, 2021, and repeatedly stole merchandise with a total value in excess of $60,000, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Bank manager accused of setting fire to conceal embezzlement

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The former branch manager of a western Pennsylvania credit union is accused of stealing $340,000 and then setting the bank safe on fire to throw off investigators. A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted 63-year-old Patty Lynn Mavrakis of Belle Vernon on charges of embezzlement, wire fraud and using a fire to commit a federal felony.
